Last of the Breed

While I was working on the Graphic Novel of Law of the Desert Born I started thinking about what I might want to do next.  After considering a number of different stories I decided on Last of the Breed and started working on a script.  As things turned out we were not able to go ahead and do another Graphic Novel for Random House and the script was abandoned about half way through.

While Comic Books and Films are not nearly as similar as some people think, given the way I have worked on Graphic Novels I have found it best to start with a screenplay. It's a useful format because the scenes are carefully delineated and the dialog is clearly presented.  Since pacing out and then creating the carefully chosen images that will make up the story is such a detailed job, it is good to start work in a form (like a script) that is highly flexible and easily revised.

Even though I only was able to write part of this script before discovering it did not have any immediate future it was still a great deal of fun and also a significant challenge. Last of the Breed is a good deal tougher to adapt than it seems on the surface. More on that later ...
